Ocean removal.

Time magazine reports on the Energy Department's release of $36 million to study technologies to study how best oceans can remove CO2 from the atmosphere.

As the article notes, CO2 removal by oceans is not a novel concept. What remains unknown is how much CO2 can be pulled and with what efficacy. That is what these DOE grants would do.
