A Boulder-based company received a tentative federal $189 million loan commitment to develop lasers to spot methane leaks from oil and gas sites across six southwestern states, Bloomberg reports.

By detecting real-time leaks from the nation's most prolific oil producing region, this technology could really help the U.S. achieve greenhouse gas emissions reductions.
