E&E News (paywall) says the nation’s grids survived the onslaught of record-breaking heatwaves this summer despite predictions because it was able to tap fossil fuels as well as renewables — and got a bit lucky.

Amena’s take: It’s obvious that grid operators will need to plan for hotter-than-normal summers and rely on fossil fuels and renewables in the foreseeable future to meet summer demand.
