Canary Media writes about $28 million in federal awards to 13 companies including Boulder-based Electra for using cutting-edge technology to slash emissions in the steel making process.

As Cipher reported last year, Electra is avoiding emissions by making iron from low-quality ore using a process batteries employ at a temperature similar to that of a cup of coffee.
