Shares of Vinfast, a Vietnamese electric vehicle maker with plans to build a factory in the U.S., surged and its market capitalization exceeded all but two other global automakers, the Asia Nikkei reports, citing CNBC.

A lot of caveats, but the idea that a Vietnamese electric vehicle maker would build a U.S. plant and sport the third largest stock market capitalization of any global automaker would have been laughable even five years ago.
