Oil-producer group OPEC and the International Energy Agency have issued predictions on future oil use that are furthest apart since at least 2008, Reuters reports.

This may sound inconsequential, but this gap reflects fundamental competing world views about the pace of the energy transition—possibly competing self-fulfilling prophecies.
