Former military and political leaders urge lawmakers to take action so the U.S. can be awarded contracts to mine the sea floor for critical minerals, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Earlier in the week, lawmakers introduced a bill to support deep sea mining. The U.S. is trying to gain a foothold in supply chains for critical minerals, which China currently dominates.
