A top U.S. mining executive at CERAWeek said the U.S. needs to stop paying "lip service" and increase permitting for copper to meet the demand for electrification, S&P Global reports.

You cannot have a clean technology or an energy transition without copper. If the U.S. wants to move toward electrification, it has to start permitting more mines and at a faster clip.
