With at least 2 million people working outside in "often blazing, humid heat" that will only worsen, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signs law blocking heat protections for outdoor workers, NPR reports.

The law preempts Miami-Dade County, which was about to take steps to provide about 300,000 of its workers with paid rest breaks and access to shade and water.
